Jerez Moto2: Rabat in front with career first pole

Though currently joint second in the championship and a podium finisher in Texas, Marc VDS rider Mika Kallio could only manage to secure himself a 15th place start.

Danny Kent starts in 23rd for the Tech3 team, comfortably ahead of his team-mate Louis Rossi in 32nd. Fellow Brit Kyle Smith, who has won at Jerez while competing in the Spanish Championship,starts form 25th on the grid.

Both Technomag carXpert's Randy Krummenacher and Thai Honda Gresini's Ratthapark Wilairot have reached their 100th grand prix starts. They start their career milestone races from 18th and 16th respectively.

Sole Moriwaki user Yuki Takahashi enjoyed his best qualifying since joining the Idemitsu Honda Team Asia in 21st place.
