Le Mans: Pedrosa pays price for qualifying fall

18 May 2013

Dani Pedrosa will start Sunday's French MotoGP from a season-worst sixth place after falling from his Repsol Honda early in qualifying.

In a repeat of his team-mate Marc Marquez's free practice spill, Pedrosa lost the front of his RCV under braking for the first chicane.

Although he returned on his spare bike, the new 15-minute qualifying format meant the Jerez winner was unable to replicate his free practice form.

"I crashed in qualifying - I think I hit a bump and then lost the front - then had to go back to the garage and only had a little time left, so it was it was hard to get the tyre up to temperature when I got back out on track,” said Pedrosa

“I wasn't able to make the best use of the session, but at least I was able to clock a fairly decent time and place sixth. It is a pity, because we could have been much higher up the grid.

“For tomorrow we will have to try to get a good start, come back up through the field and have a good race"

Pedrosa will start round four just three points from pole sitter Marquez in the world championship standings.
