Mugello: Marquez predicts 'tough' weekend
28 May 2013
Marc Marquez expects a huge challenge at Mugello in Italy this weekend as the MotoGP newcomer attempts to continue his sensational start to the season.
Marquez battled to third at Le Mans in his first wet race on a MotoGP machine and is hoping for better weather at Mugello, where the 20-year-old believes his key rivals will be especially tough to conquer at one of the most technical tracks on the calendar.
The reigning Moto2 world champion has been victorious in the past at Mugello in the 125cc and Moto2 classes in 2010 and 2011 respectively and acknowledges the importance of finding a strong set-up for the challenging Italian circuit.
“I'm really pleased with the race in Le Mans, it was great experience for me to ride in the wet but now I am happy to go to Mugello and hopefully have some nice weather,” he said.
“Mugello is a difficult circuit, perhaps one of the most difficult in the world championship.
“It has many changes of direction so we must work hard from the beginning to find the right set-up.
“These coming to races will be very important as they are difficult circuits and we must remain focused,” added Marquez, who is second in the championship, just six points behind team-mate Dani Pedrosa.
“The other riders are so fast in Mugello so I'm sure it's going to be tough, but as always we will try our 100%.”
