Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso is relishing the opportunity to compete in his home race at Mugello this weekend, where the Italian rider has finished on the rostrum in the premier class on each of his previous three visits.

Dovizioso will be roared on by thousands of Ducati fanatics at the iconic circuit in the hills of Tuscany as he bids to secure a crowd-pleasing result on Sunday.

The factory Ducati MotoGP star finished fourth on the Desmosedici GP13 in the wet at Le Mans last time out after earning a brilliant front row start and is confident he can maintain that momentum this weekend.

"I definitely can't wait to do the Mugello weekend, as it's the nicest circuit in the world," he said.

"It's Ducati's 'house,' and there will certainly be many fans on hand, so it's really a lot of fun to race there.

"We've already had some tests, so we'll be prepared, although it will be difficult because we still have basically the same GP13 from Le Mans.

"It's a tough track that's physical and very fast, although I don't think it'll be bad for us.

"Mugello is always a good circuit for me, and having the support of Ducati and its fans should help us to have a good weekend."

Mugello holds many special memories for Dovizioso, who made his Grand Prix debut there in 2001 in the 125cc class.
