CRT top gun Espargaro vows to keep up pressure at Mugello

'It is one of the best tracks you can wish for on a MotoGP bike because it is long, wide, with all kinds of corners and a lot of grip' - Aleix Espargaro
CRT frontrunner Aleix Espargaro has hailed Mugello as 'one of the best circuits you could wish for' as the Power Electronics Aspar rider aims to bolster his series lead.

Espargaro is currently top CRT rider and lies ninth overall in the MotoGP World Championship after a superb start to the season.

He hopes to make amends at the Italian circuit this weekend after running off track in 2012, ruining his chances of challenging the fully-fledged MotoGP machines.

“I am looking forward to racing at Mugello, a circuit I love,” said Espargaro.

“It is fast and not too dissimilar to Barcelona, which is my favourite track.

“It is one of the best tracks you can wish for on a MotoGP bike because it is long, wide, with all kinds of corners and a lot of grip.

“Practice went well for us here last year and we were quite close to the factory bikes but I ran off track in the race, lost a lot of time and was unable to catch up with my team-mate,” he added.

“I didn't manage to finish as the top CRT at Le Mans last year either but this year we turned it around, so let's see if we can do it again. Hopefully I can continue to dominate in CRT.”

Aleix Espargaro, a unnoticed kicker, he has never been on a competetive machine. The Aprilia ART seems like a tight package. Pneumatic Valves and imagine it becoming even faster and closer to the prototypes... level the playing field. piss on some red stickers. rivalry of the brands. nice

You forget how sought after the factory/sattelite seats are, fair enough they may have a few dodgy decisions like Smith etc but the rest of the field are big name, big sponsor riders who would take a huge shove to leave the teams they are in. Out of the current crop of prototypes I can only think of Spies and Smith who are massively under performing so with the limited number of seats on the grid and the current contracts in place getting a factory seat is easier said than done. But Suzuki could be a good bet with De Puniet, Crutchlow and rumour of an Italian rider all fighting for it that could be a no go as well.
