Catalunya MotoGP: Crutchlow expects a difficult weekend

"It will be a difficult race but if I can get three podiums on the bounce it would be really pleasing.” - Cal Crutchlow.
Following two consecutive podium finishes in France and Italy Cal Crutchlow will be looking to become the first British rider in over 30 years to have three consecutive premier class podiums.

The Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider however thinks that this weekend's Catalan Grand Prix will be one of the most difficult races of the season for him.

"It's going to be a tough weekend and it's probably going to be the most difficult of the last few weekends," said Crutchlow.

"There's so many Spanish riders that want to prove a point; especially the top three in the championship and then you've got Bautista out to prove his point. Valentino always goes well at this circuit and Andrea too.

"It will be a difficult race but if I can get three podiums on the bounce it would be really pleasing. But we'll take it like every other weekend and if we can finish in the top five I'm happy because it's more consistent points for the championship."

Crutchlow has shown good form at the Circuit de Catalunya in the past with a front row start last year and his weekend got off to a good start with the third fastest time, less than a tenth shy of Lorenzo's fastest time, in opening practice.
