Jorge Lorenzo followed up his victory in the Catalunya MotoGP by topping the time sheets during today's official test at the circuit in Spain.
Lorenzo's fastest lap of 1m 41.904s was 0.051s quicker than Ducati's Nicky Hayden in second place.
The Factory Yamaha rider tested a new fuel tank but said his YZR-M1 was naturally more competitive in the cooler temperatures compared to the sweltering heat experienced during Sunday's race.
“We knew when the weather is colder everything is much better and the lap time is faster,” Lorenzo said.
“We had a lot of changing of settings [that made] a small difference, but anyway every small detail is a big welcome for me.
“We were just trying to feel what was going on with the bike.”
Lorenzo said the biggest improvement in the cooler conditions was in the braking department.
“We can feel the difference between cold and hot [temperatures] in the braking at this moment.”
In response to a question whether or not he was concerned that Honda was set to test a 2014 bike at Aragon, the defending world champion said: “I do not worry about things I cannot control – it is not my job.”
