Rossi: No explanation for test spill
18 June 2013
Valentino Rossi had no explanation for his crash during MotoGP testing at Catalunya in the afternoon, with the Factory Yamaha rider saying he 'did not understand' the reason for his fall.
Rossi ended the day sixth on the timesheets with a lap of 1m 42.513s leaving him 0.609s behind team-mate Jorge Lorenzo at the top.
He lost vital time following his spill in the afternoon, but ventured back out to test a new rear tyre.
“At the end it was not so bad and this morning we did a good test and we continued to work on my settings from the race,” said Rossi.
“We worked on the settings to help me stop the bike in a better way and I am happy.
“We had a programme this afternoon to try a different setting with a different weight distribution, but unfortunately I crashed at the beginning – I don't understand why because I don't push a lot.
“I lost one hour and a half and I come back on the track just because we have a rear tyre to try and it was very good, I like it a lot,” he added.
“A good hard tyre is better for everybody.”
Rossi was also pleased to hear of Suzuki's 2015 comeback, with the MotoGP legend hailing the Japanese manufacturer's return as 'very important'.
“It is very good that Suzuki comes back. To have another factory team in MotoGP is important.”Don't miss out! The next round of the 2013 MotoGP World Championship takes place at Assen on June 27-29 - CLICK HERE to see ticket prices from the Official MotoGP Ticket Store.
