Marquez: Aragon ‘a lot of fun’ on MotoGP bike

19 June 2013

Marc Marquez had a 'fun' MotoGP debut at Aragon on Wednesday, completing 71 testing laps - the best of which was under the pole record set by Repsol Honda predecessor Casey Stoner.

That was good enough for second on the timesheets, 0.358s behind Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo and a similar margin ahead of team-mate Dani Pedrosa.

"I am happy with today's test,” said race-winning rookie Marquez, who spent the day on the 2013 version of the RCV. “Aragon is one of my favourite circuits and on a MotoGP bike it is a lot of fun! At the beginning it was difficult, as many of the braking points are blind, but in the end I felt comfortable.

“We did a good test trying to solve a problem we had in the last couple of races. We did some changes in the geometry and we found a good base set up that I believe will be useful also in the coming circuits and not only here.”

While most teams and riders concluded testing on Wednesday, including Pedrosa, Marquez will return on Thursday to make his debut on the 2014 prototype Honda.

“Tomorrow I will do some more tests on the [2013] bike and then I will try the 2014 prototype. It will be a busy day!" he said.

Marquez, who finished third in Sunday's Catalunya MotoGP, is also third in the world championship standings, behind Pedrosa and Lorenzo.
