Marquez takes lessons, test time to Assen

25 June 2013

MotoGP rookie Marc Marquez is aiming to make use of lessons learnt while following Repsol Honda team-mate and title leader Dani Pedrosa during their home Catalunya round - and extra track time during last week's Aragon test.

Marquez upped his pace significantly in the Catalunya race and came within a whisker of beating Pedrosa for second place, having been forced to back-out of an ill-timed pass.

"I had a difficult weekend in Catalunya but in the race, riding behind Dani, I was able to learn many things,” confirmed the Austin race winner, who then spent three days on track at Aragon.

“The Aragon test was useful and we were able to solve some problems we've experienced in the last few races and also get to know the Honda RC213V a lot better!

“I know the weather in Assen can be unpredictable so it will be important to make the most of the dry track time we have. I like the circuit and I am feeling really good at the moment so it will be interesting to get there on the MotoGP machine!"

Marquez has won at Assen for the past three seasons, twice in Moto2 and once in 125GP. The 20-year-old is currently third in the MotoGP standings, with podiums at all but one of the six events so far.
