Pedrosa targets fourth successive Sachsenring win
9 July 2013
Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa will be hoping to maintain his superb record at the Sachsenring in Germany this weekend as he attempts to consolidate his lead at the helm of the MotoGP World Championship.
Pedrosa missed a golden chance to put daylight between himself and reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo at Assen after the Factory Yamaha rider sustained a broken collarbone in a practice spill.
However, Pedrosa only finished one place ahead of Lorenzo in fourth, increasing his lead by two points to a nine-point advantage.
The Honda star has four MotoGP victories to his credit at the Sachsenring, where Pedrosa has won for the past three years.
Understandably, he is feeling confident approaching the eighth round of the championship.
“This week we head to Germany and I hope we can get a good feeling and have a good weekend,” said Pedrosa.
“Sachsenring has typically been a good track for me in the past and it's a circuit where I always enjoy racing.
“It's a short track where you spend a lot of time on the left, but the fastest corner is to the right, so tyre performance will be key,” he added.
“It's important to keep the momentum and ride my best to keep fighting for race wins.”
The Sachsenring circuit is the second shortest track on the MotoGP calendar after Laguna Seca in the USA at 3.67km.
