Espargaro wants more of the same in Germany
10 July 2013
Following a stunning result at Assen, Aleix Espargaro is aiming to mix it up with the MotoGP prototype machines once more at the Sachsenring.
The Power Electronics Aspar rider has won all seven CRT races so far this season and although Espargaro isn't a fan of the German circuit, the Spaniard is quietly optimistic of a strong performance this weekend.
“So far the first half of the season has been excellent for us, we have started the season very well and gradually improved our performance.
“We're dominating in CRT and the most important thing is that we are improving every time and closing the gap to the official prototypes,” said Espargaro.
“We are very happy with our performance and results, every day we improve a little bit more. Sachsenring is a circuit that I don't particularly like.
“Last year I struggled to adapt, mainly because it is slow and I prefer fast circuits. Anyway this year the situation is different and everything is working perfectly on the basis of hard work,” he added.
“In Germany we will work hard again like we do at every race. Our bike is better this year, easier to ride, and that could be an advantage for us at such a difficult circuit.”
Espargaro finished eighth in the Dutch MotoGP ahead of the Tech 3 Yamaha of Bradley Smith and Ducati riders Andrea Dovizioso, Nicky Hayden, Andrea Iannone and Michele Pirro.GPone.com
reports that Aprilia is planning to stay in MotoGP next year and will upgrade its RSV4-based machine - including the possibility of pneumatic valves - to take on the new range of privateer machinery from Honda, Yamaha and possibly Ducati.
