Dani Pedrosa pulls out of warm-up

14 July 2013

Despite passing a medical check this morning, MotoGP title leader Dani Pedrosa has withdrawn from warm-up for the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring.

“Good news. Dani has passed the medical test and has decided to take part in warm up for the GP of Germany”, declared the Repsol Honda team an hour ago.

But Pedrosa was not present when the warm-up session began and the team has now announced that the Spaniard is, “still feeling dizzy and decided not to take part in warm-up.”

Pedrosa will now have another medical check in an hour and a half before deciding if he should start the race.

Pedrosa suffered a small fracture to his right collarbone on Saturday morning, which forced him to miss qualifying and required the medical check this morning. A concussion was feared but ruled out after hospital checks.

Main title rival Jorge Lorenzo is already out of the event after re-damaging his broken collarbone on Friday. Pedrosa holds a nine point lead over Lorenzo, who is set to miss next weekend's US GP as well.

Pedrosa's team-mate and pole sitter Marc Marquez was quickest in warm-up by 0.373s from Cal Crutchlow, with home hero Stefan Bradl in third.

Valentino Rossi, Bradley Smith, Alvaro Bautista and Nicky Hayden (who fell) were the only riders within one-second of Marquez this morning, at a short track that usually produces close lap times.

Marquez, Crutchlow and Rossi will form this afternoon's front row. If Marquez wins today and Pedrosa does not score, Marquez will take over the world championship lead.
