German MotoGP: CRT star Espargaro fights at the front

"This morning we decided to go back to the 2012 chassis, because from the beginning of the year I have had a lot of difficulty adjusting to this season's one,” he said. “The difference is small but in the warm-up I found the best feeling of the weekend with the bike.

“So I decided to keep the chassis for the race. On the first lap of the race I had to adapt to the behaviour of the bike, which made me lose several positions and some time, but luckily I was able to pull myself together. However, it was too late to keep up with Pirro and Hayden.

“I think I was the only rider who used the soft front tyre, as with the hard front I could not ride well. When I was passed by Barberá I stuck behind him. I'm happy because today we finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel. As the laps went by I could enjoy riding again."

Awesome Aleix!! Was screaming in excitement when he's riding along the top guys during the 1st laps. Just amazing seeing that actually happened in a dry race! How often do we have a chance seeing him with the top guys? In fact, he has had a really wonderful weekend - really, my hats off to him for such an awesome performance! Yes, keep that going & hopefully more coming along the way! Really curious how he'll fare when aboard a decent prototype! Not sure but probably not the top guys' performance.. but really who knows? But likely he'll be there, like Cal? :) Really hope Aprilia will play a more active role next year, coming out with an even more ferocious & fearsome machine next year. Haha... This will benefit greatly. Their current engine really has the potential and seems to be in the right direction. Let's hope for the best! Meanwhile, Aleix, keep those quiet confidence & positives going!! Nicely job indeed enhancing the excitement of bike racing!
