Crutchlow: At the moment I have no job

19 July 2013

Cal Crutchlow insists nothing has changed for next season, despite confirmation that Nicky Hayden will not be retained by Ducati for MotoGP in 2014.

Hayden's seat is the only factory team ride available for next year, while Tech 3 Yamaha star Crutchlow is the highest placed rider yet to sign.

“My situation hasn't changed since last week, at the moment we are speaking to all manufacturers and seeing if there is a possibility. But at the moment, I have no job,” Crutchlow said at Laguna Seca on Thursday.

“I can only ride the bike and go as fast as possible. The situation in every manufacturer is difficult, but anything that has happened this week hasn't changed my situation at all.”

Crutchlow is currently fourth in the world championship - with four podiums from the last five rounds - and by far the leading satellite rider. The top Ducati rider is Andrea Dovizioso, without a podium in sixth.

Crutchlow is seeking factory status - at least in terms of machinery - for next year, something Yamaha appear unwilling to offer. Adding to the complexity at Tech 3 is that Moto2 star Pol Espargaro is reported to have signed with Yamaha, while Bradley Smith already has a Tech 3 contract in place for 2014.

Crutchlow's only Honda possibility appears to be with LCR, should HRC not take up its option on Stefan Bradl.
