Valentino Rossi was amused to discover that the circuit medical doctor at Laguna Seca, who will check the fitness of injured MotoGP title contenders Jorge Lorenzo
and Dani Pedrosa, is listed as 'Dr Rossi'.
"Really? For me they are clearly unfit!" Rossi quipped.
The Italian, nicknamed The Doctor, added:
"Maybe it is my uncle, I don't know!"
Rossi - Valentino that is - may not be medically trained, but he did correctly predict that Yamaha team-mate Lorenzo
would try to ride this weekend.
The Spaniard underwent his second surgery in as many weeks after re-damaging his broken collarbone last Friday in Germany, but a subsequent injury for Pedrosa means he is still firmly in a title fight now led by rookie Marc Marquez.
"I was right!" said Rossi. "Yes, it was my feeling because Jorge demonstrated [at Assen] that after 35 hours his body can ride the M1 with a fracture. Now [after the second fall] the situation is more difficult, he has to go maybe more slow. He has to try to be more careful, but I think he can be very fast this weekend for sure."
