Aleix Espargaro was once again the fastest CRT rider in opening practice for the US MotoGP at Laguna Seca, despite suffering from chatter.

The Spaniard, undefeated in the privateer class so far this year, was seventh quickest - 1.2s from Cal Crutchlow but ahead of two Ducatis and two Yamahas.

"I like this track, it is so different to the other tracks but you have to change the set-up of the bike a little bit," said the Aspar ART rider. "Hopefully we can improve the set-up this afternoon because this morning we have had a little bit of chatter."

When asked where the vibration problem was most pronounced Espargaro said: "On any of the faster corners when I released the brakes I had a lot of chatter but we will try some different things this afternoon and hopefully it will improve."

Conditions in the session were quite cold and numerous riders commented that they were suffering problems getting temperature into the front tyre.
