Marc Marquez is well placed to extend his growing advantage in the MotoGP World Championship after claiming his fourth pole position of the year at Indianapolis.

The young Spaniard, who leads the overall standings by a comfortable 16 points following wins at the Sachsenring and Laguna Seca, has returned from the summer break in superb form, topping each timed session around the 'Brickyard' before putting in a scintillating lap during qualifying to put more than half a second between himself and his closest rival.

Another exceptional performance from the MotoGP rookie, Marquez was delighted with his pace over a single lap, but hints that tyre wear could prove a determining factor come race day.
