Cal Crutchlow's Saturday Silverstone curse has struck again, with the Englishman falling heaving in the opening minutes of morning practice for his home British MotoGP.

Crutchlow - who broke his collarbone in qualifying on his 2011 British GP debut, then fractured his ankle in the Saturday morning session last year - lost control on entry to the ultra-fast Maggotts Esses on his first flying lap this morning.

While the #35 slid across the grass, his Tech 3 Yamaha bounced several times and was virtually destroyed in the incident. The Englishman took his time to get up before slowly walking away - removing his gloves and checking his hands in the process, before heading to the medical centre.

The weather is bright and sunny at Silverstone this morning, but also cool and breezy.
