Pedrosa on row two after hot lap 'mistakes'

31 August 2013

A second row start was the best Dani Pedrosa could muster at the British MotoGP as the Repsol Honda rider finished 0.933 seconds behind team-mate Marc Marquez.

Pedrosa blamed himself for 'a couple of mistakes' in final qualifying when he was attempting to increase his pace on his second hot lap at Silverstone.

The Honda rider, who trails Marquez by 26 points in the title race, was only 0.011s behind Lorenzo in FP4 this morning before dropping down the order in the afternoon.

He finished behind LCR Honda's Stefan Bradl and one place ahead of Valentino Rossi, who join the Spaniard on row two.

“We improved our pace today and drew some positive conclusions from practice. However, in qualifying things didn't go that well for us,” said Pedrosa.

“I made a couple of mistakes and was unable to get a better starting position.

“We will start from fifth, so the important thing for us will be to focus on getting the set-up right, putting in the maximum effort to get a good start and have a strong race.”
