Rossi 'unhappy' with gap to Marquez, Lorenzo

31 August 2013

Valentino Rossi is content with a second row start for tomorrow's British MotoGP but the Factory Yamaha rider admitted he was 'not so happy' to be so far behind Silverstone pace-setters Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo.

Rossi's best time of 2m 02.109 seconds was a huge 1.418s behind Marquez's pole time on the Repsol Honda as he secured sixth place on the grid, where he is joined on row two by Honda pair Stefan Bradl and Dani Pedrosa.

“I'm not so happy with the distance from Lorenzo and Marquez, they did a fantastic job - unbelievably fast - but I'm happy about the second row,” said Rossi.

“It's very important and better than the third row. My lap time is quite fast but especially I'm quite satisfied with today because we improved the setting of the bike this afternoon and I'm a lot more constant with pace.

“I can stay with a good pace which is important for tomorrow. Now we have to try to make another step, I have two or three corners where I'm not so strong and I'm suffering on some bumps. Tomorrow we will try to improve.

“We are looking forward and we will see the conditions and temperature to understand which tyre to use.”
