Michele Pirro is seeking a confidence boost at San Marino next weekend after a tough time at the British MotoGP at Silverstone.
Pirro, who is filling in for the injured Ben Spies in the Ignite Pramac Racing Ducati team, finished 12th on Sunday but was over one minute behind race winner Jorge Lorenzo on the Factory Yamaha.
The Italian rider went down during morning warm-up and was forced to switch to his number two machine for the race, denting his confidence.
“This morning I felt good with the bike, so it's a shame that things went as they did,” Pirro said after Sunday's race.
“I had found a good feeling but I had an unexpected fall. I had to use the second bike for the race and, with the different settings and the lost confidence following this morning's crash, I had a slower pace again.
“Fortunately, from mid-race onwards, I moved up some positions and found a good rhythm. Thanks a lot to the team for preparing the bike for the race; I hope to do much better at Misano.”
Pirro finished the race directly behind team-mate Andrea Iannone, who is still struggling with a shoulder injury.
