British Supersport frontrunner Jason O'Halloran will again replace Mike di Meglio at the JiR team for this weekend's San Marino Moto2 round.

The 25-year-old Australian made his grand prix debut in place of the injured Frenchman last time at Silverstone.

O'Halloran qualified 24th - but only 2.644s from pole, around the two-minute plus lap - and finished the race in 25th.

"I'm very happy to be joining Team JiR in Misano. It was great to work with them at Silverstone, it was a big learning weekend and we improved in every session," said O'Halloran.

"Now for Misano, I know the bike a little bit and I know the team so I will learn the circuit on Friday and we will push for a points scoring race. I am happy to be a part of team JiR and the Moto2 Championship, I thank Gianluca and the whole team for the opportunity."

di Meglio suffered a 'compound fracture of the sacral bone' during August's Brno race and is not expected to return before the first of the flyway events in Malaysia, on October 13.

"We already know how competitive the Moto2 class can be, for Misano it will be interesting to see the evolution of the riding style of Jason to understand his potential for adaptation to a new track after he has already enjoyed a weekend with us," said team manager Gianluca Montiron.

"On the other hand we live in a situation of awaiting our main rider as he comes back from injury."

O'Halloran is currently sixth in the BSS standings, with three podium finishes for Samsung Honda.
