Karel Abraham will miss the remaining five rounds of the 2013 MotoGP World Championship.

The Czech rider has been struggling with a shoulder injury sustained at Indianapolis in August and is to undergo surgery.

The Cardion AB team is now searching for a replacement to take over Abraham's Aprilia.

"Our aim is to find a good rider able to race already in Aragon next week," said Karel Abraham Senior, manager of the Cardion AB team.

"We would have preferred to consider Czech riders but neither the promoter [Dorna] nor the association [IRTA] recommended them for safety reasons.

"The priorities include a rider experienced in MotoGP or at least WSBK racing."
