Jonas Folger will attempt a return to Moto3 action this weekend, following surgery for a fractured left ankle sustained last time at Misano.

The Mapfre Aspar rider, who highsided spectacularly after starting the San Marino race from pole, will stop off for a final check-up with Dr Mir at the Hospital Universitario Quir?n-Dexeus in Barcelona on Wednesday morning.

"I am guessing it won't be easy for me to ride this weekend after the ankle operation last week, but in any case Dr Mir told me that the bone has fixed correctly and that the operation was a success so I will be able to ride," said Folger, who finished third, from pole position, at Aragon last year.

"I'm sure I will need painkillers but luckily the pain in my shoulder and hip has disappeared so the physiotherapy was really productive. On Wednesday I will visit Dr Mir to see how the ankle is progressing after the operation.

"As far as Aragon is concerned as a circuit I like it a lot. It is very technical and I am ready to suffer because my foot is still recovering but in general the circuit suits me well - I was on pole position last year and finished on the podium so I have good memories."

Folger is now fifth in the 2013 Moto3 standings, but still five places ahead of the next best Kalex KTM rider, Jakub Kornfeil.
