Moto2: Mika Kallio keeps Marc VDS seat

Mika Kallio will remain with the Marc VDS team for the 2014 Moto2 World Championship.

The Finn - a former 125 and 250cc title contender who also spent two seasons in MotoGP before joining Moto2 with Marc VDS in 2011 - put pen to paper during last weekend's one-off outing in the Italian CIV Superbike series.

The 30-year-old, who claimed his first Moto2 win earlier this season, dominated the Mugello event on a BMW HP4 - claiming pole position and winning both races by a considerable margin.

"It doesn't matter where you win - MotoGP, Italian Championship or even ice racing in Finland during the winter - the feeling is always special and that is good for your confidence,” said Kallio, presently 19-points from 2014 Marc VDS team-mate Esteve Rabat.

“The Mugello weekend was fun, but it was also a good opportunity to manage a race from the front, which is quite hard mentally. I hope that we can take some of the feeling from Mugello into this weekend at Aragon, where I need to finish in front of Tito Rabat if I'm to close the gap to third place in the championship."

Kallio's team-mate Scott Redding currently leads the Moto2 standings. Redding will move to MotoGP next season.
