Aragon MotoGP: Marquez 'No chance' of switching to 2014 Honda

"No chance. Especially because for next year the fuel tank and some things are a little different" - Marc Marquez.
MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez says there is 'no chance' of switching to the 2014 Honda for any of the remaining rounds.

The rookie set the fastest lap time at the recent Misano test while riding the latest version of next year's RC213V (pictured), but will continue with the present machine.

“We tested especially with the new bike, the prototype for 2014. It was working quite good. I was very happy because the pace was good,” said Marquez at Aragon on Thursday.

“We also tried to improve our current bike, but it was a little bit more difficult. We tried some things but didn't improve as [much as] we expected. Anyway I'm happy because the pace was not so bad, but we need to improve a little bit more to try to be there with Jorge.”

Lorenzo, Yamaha's reigning double champion, has won the last two races.

Asked if an early debut for the 2014 Honda was possible, Marquez replied:

“No chance. Especially because for next year the fuel tank and some things are a little different. We did a small step with the current bike and we will see here if it is working well.”

The 20-year-old was riding the prototype Honda in full 2014 spec, which means using the new standard ECU hardware and one-litre less race fuel, compared with this year.

Marquez holds a 34-point championship advantage over Lorenzo and his own Repsol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa heading into this weekend's Aragon round.

but we need to improve a little bit more to try to be there with Jorge.” Marc Marquez. An indication from Marc there that he knows how determined Jorge is not to give one inch of ground. He knows Jorge is fast and smooth and he will need to maintain maximum focus.Any mistakes and Jorge will be waiting to punish him.
