Tech 3 Racing has signed Marcel Schrotter to race its Mistral 610 machine in the 2014 Moto2 World Championship.

Schrotter will ride alongside the retained Danny Kent and thus take the place of Frenchman Louis Rossi.

20-year-old Schrotter currently steers a Kalex for the rival Maptaq SAG Zelos Team, with which he has claimed a best finish of tenth - and scored points in ten of the twelve races - so far in his rookie Moto2 season.

Schrotter also claimed a front row start at Mugello.

Despite his age, Schrotter has a wealth of experience, racing in the 125cc, Moto3 and Moto2 classes since his GP debut back in 2008.

"The Tech 3 Moto2 project continues to have close links to the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 MotoGP Team and Kent and Schrotter will be given maximum commitment and support to try and help them follow in the footsteps of Bradley Smith, who graduated to the premier class through the highly respected Tech 3 set-up," said a Tech 3 statement.

Kent has scored seven points for Tech 3 so far this season, with fellow rookie Rossi claiming four points.
