Gino Rea's decision to race the 2013 Moto2 season as a self-financed wild-card has paid off, with the Englishman offered a race seat with AGR for the next three fly away races.

Rea, whose next outing on an FTR had planned to be the season-ending Grand Prix of Valencia, revealed the news on Twitter:

Rea will replace Alberto Moncayo for the Asian and Australian races after the Spaniard aggravated an old knee injury that will force him to miss the next three races.

Iker Burutxaga, team manager for AGR, spoke about the decision to draft Rea in as a replacement:

"It was a stroke of bad luck for Alberto. most important thing now is that the injury to heal completely," said the Spaniard. "This mishap has forced us to act quickly and we were able to have Gino Rea, who comes fresh having run as a guest in Aragon and also knows Sepang, where last year the podium."

The wet Malaysian race last year gave Rea the first podium of his career riding for Gresini.
