Jorge Lorenzo is confident he can turn up the heat on rookie MotoGP title leader Marc Marquez on day two of the Valencia showdown.

The reigning double champion, who needs to bridge a 13-point gap to Marquez in Sunday's season finale, was a close third quickest behind Marquez and Repsol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa in Friday practice.

"Today was very windy and very difficult to make the same lap time as in the morning, but we are improving and in perfect conditions we can keep in 30.9 for the race and with a little more from the bike we can go a little faster," said Lorenzo, 0.158s from Marquez.

"I don't have pressure or much to lose. Second place in the championship is certain so I'll just try to win the race and wait for Marc's result."
