Gresini Honda's Alvaro Bautista was back on track at the Valencia MotoGP test after taking a rest day on Monday.

Bautista posted the fifth quickest time in 1m 31.208s as the Spaniard finished behind LCR Honda's Stefan Bradl and ahead of Bradley Smith on the Yamaha Tech 3.

He used the second day of the official test in Spain to evaluate new a Showa front suspension and Nissin brakes package, but won't ride the 2014 Honda until Wednesday.

"It has been a positive day and we have been able to try a lot of new parts with some good results," said Bautista.

"We tried a new front fork that Showa brought here and gathered a lot of information that should be useful in the next test.

"Nissin have also brought a new brakes package that worked well so it has been a good day and now I am looking forward tomorrow, when I will get the chance to ride the 2014 bike."
