Pedrosa has plate and screws removed

Immediately after the conclusion of MotoGP testing at Valencia, Dani Pedrosa underwent surgery on his right collarbone.

This time it was to have metalwork removed - a plate and 13 screws inserted after his accident with Marco Simoncelli at the 2011 French Grand Prix.

"I've undergone surgery to remove the plate and 13 screws from my right collarbone operation in 2011, which I required as a result of the crash I had that season," said Pedrosa.

"We will have to wait a few days to see how everything develops and, above all, give it a little time. That's why I chose this break in our schedule to undergo the operation.

"Now I need to rest up, but I can't wait to be fully recovered soon."

Repsol Honda state that Pedrosa will be inactive for two weeks, before beginning a functional recovery programme'. That should not be an issue, with the Spaniard's next test scheduled for February 4 at Sepang.

Pedrosa's latest shoulder injury came in the form of a 'small fracture' to his left collarbone at the Sachsenring earlier this season.

The Spaniard opted not to have surgery and went on to finish third in the world championship, behind team-mate Marc Marquez and Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo.

It'll be a damn shame if the little guy doesn't pick up a WC before he retires, he would have at least 2 by now if it wasn't for injury. Without doubt one of the best riders out there, which is why he's deservedly been on that bike as long as he has, lets face it, who else would do better! If I was a team owner, he'd have a ride for sure.
