Following the conclusion of the 2013 MotoGP season, Nicky Hayden has become the latest rider to have some metalwork removed.

Hayden, moving from Ducati to Aspar next season, had a screw removed from his right wrist, which had been inserted following an accident at Valencia in 2011.

"Surgery went smooth. Feels good to have this loose screw the rest of the way out & not diggin into my radius anymore," the 2006 world champion wrote on Twitter.

Hayden's former factory Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa had a plate and 13 screws removed from his collarbone during surgery last week.
