MotoGP star Aleix Espargaro, winner of the privateer CRT class for the past two seasons, is to start a Moto3 team in the Spanish CEV Championship.

"The idea is to organise a structure around two young and fast riders, with the intention of winning the CEV championship, and if possible to give them a World Championship race as a wild-card," said Espargaro. "The bikes will be KTMs... which we know are first-class material. One rider will be Gabriel Rodrigo, while we are yet to confirm the other."

Also yet to be confirmed is if the team will race in Espargaro's trademark pink. The Spaniard explained his preference for the colour earlier this year:

"We're quite used to seeing riders using fluorescent yellows and oranges but I have always liked to be a bit different and since nobody was using pink I decided to go for it. I love the colour and it gives me that bit of exclusivity. I suppose most people don't dare to use it but I really like it."

Aleix, older brother of Moto2 champion Pol, is switching from Aspar to Forward Racing (Yamaha) for the 2014 MotoGP season.
