Stefan Bradl claimed a debut pole and podium during his second season in MotoGP, with Honda LCR, but slipped one place relative to last year's ranking in your Crash.net Star of the Year vote.

The pole and rostrum both came at Laguna Seca, and helped confirm a new contract for 2014.

However the young German was unable to repeat either feat and any hopes of challenging Cal Crutchlow and Alvaro Bautista for top satellite rider honours ended with a leg fracture at Sepang.

Despite missing two races due to the injury, Bradl exceeded his 2012 tally by 21-points and rose one place higher in the final standings relative to his rookie year.

About the vote:
Over 30,000 votes were cast for the 2013 Crash.net MotoGP Star of the Year poll, where viewers were asked to award each of this year's full-time participants - only Ben Spies and Karel Abraham, injured for large parts of the season, were not included - with a mark out of ten.

The average score for each rider was then used to determine the final ranking, which will be revealed in full once the winner is announced.

Voting instructions were as follows: “It's your vote, which means the criterion is entirely up to you. If you feel results are all that matter in racing, vote according to the championship standings or race wins. However most will feel factors such as machinery, performance relative to a team-mate, riding style, experience, injuries, progress and personality should also be taken into account.

“Remember, it's not just about who you want as the winner - often the most difficult decisions will be how highly to mark riders that finished lower down in the standings, on less competitive machinery.”

Last year was the first year that the reigning MotoGP world champion had not won the Crash.net vote, will that be repeated in 2013?

MFPinterceptor: I expected more this year from Bradl, And after Laguna Seca, i thought he would be a solid podium contender. So i'm a bit disappointed. Still i like the guy. And about the factory spec or not. Put Stoner on Bradl or Bautista's bike and he would be up there every race!
Bautista and Bradl bike are very different. Stoner could fight for victory on those bikes but not always specially on showa. and why are you comparing him with stoner, sure all these guys are great but guys like Stoner or Marc or Jorge or Dani or even Rossi are just a step above.
