Andrea Dovizioso set his fastest ever MotoGP lap of Sepang on the factory Ducati to slot into seventh place on the time sheets on the final day of testing in Malaysia.

Dovizioso's time of 2m 00.370s was still 0.837s adrift of Marc Marquez's record test lap of Sepang (1m 59.533s) today and the Italian is still facing the same fundamental issues with the Desmosedici GP14.

"Unfortunately we are still not able to turn the bike, so our angle on exit is the same and we are not able to close the line more and pick up the bike for acceleration with less angle - this is the way to ride in MotoGP," he explained.

"It is the way the top Yamaha and Honda riders have to ride. Until we reach that point, it is difficult to be really close to the fast riders out there."

Dovizioso, who wouldn't be drawn on the continuing speculation over the potential for Ducati switch to the new 'Open' regulations, said he was 'really happy' with the input of new general manager Gigi Dall'Igna so far.

"I'm really happy with relations. I can't say too much about him about what he can do. But I'm really happy because he speaks about everything with the riders in the same way," said Dovizioso.

"Gigi looks normal but he's not normal in his work. He is really focused and it's important for our situation. I like all the engineers and how they speak with me."

Dovi's team-mate, Britain's Cal Crutchlow, was 12th fastest with a time of 2m 01.157s.
