Stefan Bradl's attempted race simulation on the LCR Honda at Sepang was hindered by a rear brake problem, but the German star is excited by the potential of the 2014 RC213V.

Bradl competed the first pre-season test of 2014 in Malaysia in fifth position following a best lap today of 2m 0.122s.

That put the German half-a-second from Repsol Honda pace setter Marc Marquez, although Bradl also set a strong series of laps during his two-part race simulation.

"We leave Malaysia with a good base set-up and I am quite happy about the overall work we have done in the last three days. There are some areas to improve like the braking stability but I feel good on this new bike," said Bradl, who had been third fastest on Wednesday.

"Today we focused on the race simulation but my long run was disrupted by a small issue with the rear brake.

"However, I was able to proceed with my daily programme achieving a good feedback from the new hard compound. I hope that we can continue to improve in the next test."

Bradl suffered a small fall at turn one on Thursday, at the same place where he fractured an ankle in October's grand prix.
