New Marc VDS signing Esteve Rabat took over from team-mate Mika Kallio at the head of the official Valencia Moto2 timesheets during Wednesday's second day of testing.

Fifth on day one, Rabat lowered his best lap time by 1.3s to put his Kalex 0.354s clear of nearest rival Thomas Luthi (Interwetten Suter) - who gained one place relative to yesterday - and drop comfortably below the official race lap record.

Kallio completed the top three, improving by half-a-second over his pace setting Tuesday lap, but was still 0.535s from Rabat.
