Czech rider Karel Abraham feels he is riding at the same level as fellow Open class Honda riders Scott Redding and Hiroshi Aoyama after completing the winter tests in Qatar.

Abraham was 13th fastest with a time of 1m 57.134s on the Cardion AB Racing RCV1000R and around one second behind Nicky Hayden, the leading Open class Honda rider on the Drive M7 Aspar machine.

He is still feeling the effects of a shoulder injury, but Abraham is pleased with his progress after reducing the deficit to his Open class rivals compared to the previous test at Sepang in Malaysia.

"We had to catch up [on] all we could not try in Malaysia, so they were really busy three days. For me personally it was a much more relaxed test than in Sepang," he said.

"First because in Qatar there's more comfortable weather, and second, because my shoulder seems better and it didn't limit me at least on Friday and Saturday.

"Compared to the previous test we observe a big step; we got to the level of [Hiroshi] Aoyama and [Scott] Redding riding on the same bike as me," he added.

"Unfortunately on the last day of the test I started to feel again the shoulder. That's a pity, because we started to improve our times and I managed to ride under 1m 58s 5s."
