Ioda Racing's Danilo Petrucci is encouraged by the 'potential' of the Aprilia ART after getting to grips with the machine in Qatar.

Petrucci and Ioda Racing were in action for the first time this year at the Losail circuit but missed most of the second day due to electrical issues.

The Italian rider enjoyed a better day on Sunday, completing 55 laps and posting his fastest time of 1m 58.086s as he finished 15th of the 17 riders present at the test.

Petrucci, who had not ridden a MotoGP bike since the final round of the 2013 championship, said: "I'm definitely satisfied with the work that we did. When I came here I did not think [we would] do so well. The ART is a very nice and strong bike, it has a lot of potential and I was sad to not have more time to ride these days.

"Unfortunately, the electronic problems we had yesterday made us lose almost a day of testing and today I had to stop just when I started to improve.

"What we have lost is precious time because we only did this test. If I look at my time I'm happy because I had never clocked 1m 58.0s at Losail. This is a track full of acceleration points that I don't love, but the progress we made in these days makes me satisfied."
