Austin MotoGP: Pedrosa confident of closing gap to Marquez

Dani Pedrosa is optimistic he will slash team-mate Marc Marquez's advantage during final practice and qualifying for the Austin MotoGP on Saturday
Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa expects to take a significant step forward on Saturday after ending the opening day at the Austin MotoGP in third place on the time sheets.

Pedrosa set his best lap of 2m 04.623s on the hard front and rear Bridgestone tyres in the afternoon to finish 1.333s behind team-mate and pacesetter Marc Marquez and 0.128s down on Andrea Dovizioso in second.

The Spaniard is comfortable with the set-up of his RC213V and is ready to push on and close the gap to Marquez on Saturday.
“Today we did a good job with the tyres. We tried the hard compound and it went fairly well for us,” he said.

“Although we didn't go very fast, we have a good feeling and I think that with a few tweaks to the set-up we can take a big step forward and improve considerably tomorrow. Today was a positive day for us.”
