Argentina MotoGP: Pedrosa poised to pass Barros on all-time points list

Dani Pedrosa's consistently high performances since joining MotoGP in 2006 see him on the verge of claiming third on the all time point scorers list.
Dani Pedrosa needs only a top eight finish at this weekend's Argentinean MotoGP to knock former South American grand prix hero Alex Barros out of third place on the all-time point scorers list for the 500cc/MotoGP class.

Pedrosa and Barros are joined by Loris Capirossi and Max Biaggi in claiming a place in the top ten despite being without a premier-class title, proving that championship success is not essential to a long and successful career.

As well as Pedrosa, points record holder Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and Nicky Hayden are all currently racing.

Riders with most points scored in premier class:
1. Valentino Rossi: 3,884
2. Mick Doohan: 2,298
3. Alex Barros: 2,079
4. Dani Pedrosa: 2,072
5. Loris Capirossi: 1,840
6. Casey Stoner: 1,815
7. Jorge Lorenzo: 1,780
8. Nicky Hayden: 1,647
9. Max Biaggi: 1,624
10. Alex Criville: 1,610
