Dani Pedrosa lamented his failure to make an early break at the Argentina MotoGP after leaving himself with too much work to do later in the race.
The Repsol Honda rider managed to overhaul Jorge Lorenzo on the penultimate lap, but felt any chance he had of challenging team-mate Marc Marquez vanished in the first part of the race.
“I was just unfortunate that I was not so quick at the beginning of the race and after all the mess around lap one I was stuck with the group and couldn't really make an early pass,” said Pedrosa.
“Even after when I was into third it took me some laps to get into a rhythm, but in the end I was coming strong. So we made some positive steps with the setting. I felt comfortable on the bike at the end and enjoyed it, but I kind of hated it because I was alone in third and didn't have many possibilities.
“Just right at the end I caught Jorge and made a pass. It's a great result for the team,” he added.
“I'm just hoping now to do everything perfect from the first to last lap. Next week it's Jerez, a track I like and I hope to do a great race there.”
