Former Moto2 racer Ratthapark Wilairot will make a return to the intermediate grand prix category for the Spanish Grand Prix as part of the AirAsia Caterham Moto Racing Team, it has been confirmed.

The Thai rider competed in the Moto2 category until midway through the 2013 season, with a best finish of fourth place at Assen in 2010, before announcing his immediate retirement, only to return to international competition in 2014 as part of the Core PTR Honda team in the World Supersport Championship.

For Jerez, however, Wilairot will make a brief return to Moto2 with AirAsia Caterham as a stand-in for Josh Herrin, who was injured in an accident during his home Americas Grand Prix.
