Spain MotoGP: Marquez not tempted by new bike challenge

"At the moment I feel so good with Honda. I didn't think about that" - Marc Marquez
Repsol Honda have little reason to fear that reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez could be tempted to try and win a title on another bike - at least for now.

“At the moment I feel so good with Honda. I didn't think about that. You can see on track that I feel so good with the team and the bike,” said the Spaniard at Jerez on Thursday.

Marquez, like nearly all of the leading riders, is out of contract at the end of this year.

The most famous recent example of a reigning champion leaving Honda for a new challenge is Valentino Rossi, who claimed instant success at Yamaha in 2004.

Sitting beside Marquez in the press conference on Thursday, Rossi smiled as the question was given.

“I laughed because I think it is interesting, to see Marc with another bike,” explained Rossi. “I think that anyway he is strong, but it is too early. Maybe in the future.”

He'll leave Honda one day (or maybe not). If he does, I'm sure he'd try the Yamaha. He idolizes Rossi, so he may follow in his footsteps and try the Yamaha and the Ducati at some point. Either way, he's gonna kill it on the Honda for a few more years before leaving even becomes a consideration. Marquez is probably the only dude on the grid who has the potential to match or beat Rossi's championships. That will become more apparent to us all in the next few years.
