UPDATE: Luca Scassa looks set to miss out on the Ioda ride at Le Mans after suffering a heavy fall while testing the ART MotoGP machine at Mugello today (Tuesday). It is feared that the Italian has a broken femur:

Luca Scassa has been named as a replacement for the injured Danilo Petrucci at Iodaracing during this weekend's French MotoGP at Le Mans.

Petrucci required surgery after breaking his wrist last time at Jerez, while fellow Italian Scassa (29) is currently racing for Pedercini Kawasaki in the new WSBK Evo class.

Scassa is hoping to test the 2014 ART at Mugello this week, weather permitting, but is at least familiar with the Open class Aprilia having taken part in five MotoGP races as a stand-in for Karel Abraham at Cardion AB last year (best result 16th).

The announcement ends speculation that Leon Camier, who lost his planned 2014 Ioda seat due to a lack of team funding, might take the ride.

Camier - currently standing in for the injured Sylvain Barrier at BMW Motorrad Italia SBK - finished as the top Evo rider with eleventh and twelfth places in last Sunday's Imola WSBK round. Multiple WSS and STK race winner Scassa was 13th and 14th.
