Le Mans MotoGP: Lorenzo 'My dream is to stay with Yamaha'

"It would be like a dream to stay always with Yamaha during my MotoGP career" - Jorge Lorenzo.
Jorge Lorenzo insists his dream is to remain at Yamaha for his entire MotoGP career.

With reigning champion Marc Marquez re-signing for Honda until 2016, the future of double champion Lorenzo is the topic of much speculation.

Honda had previously stated that they would again speak with Lorenzo, while in January a Spanish radio station claimed Lorenzo had reached a 'preliminary agreement' with Ducati - for an alleged 15 million euros per year.

Asked about his future on Thursday at Le Mans, Lorenzo - who has endured a tough start to the 2014 season - replied: "For the moment we are not in a hurry [to sign]. It is still too soon. It is only the fifth race."

The #99, who made his MotoGP debut with Yamaha in 2008, added: "My priority is the same as the past years; to stay with Yamaha. It would be like a dream to stay always with Yamaha during my MotoGP career, but we will see what happens. My manager is working in this area and I'm working on the track."

Should Lorenzo continue on an M1, and with team-mate Valentino Rossi also indicating his plans to race on (see separate story), rookie Pol Espargaro confirmed that he would remain at the satellite Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team in 2015.

The young Spaniard, who is in the first year of a two-year contract directly with Yamaha, explained:

“It is a little bit complicated. If the factory guys want to [stay] in the factory team then there is no place there... But I'm so happy with the [Tech 3] team so it would not be problem to stay with them another year, it would be a pleasure.”

Factory Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso, who is among the riders linked with the returning Suzuki team, commented: “I've started to speak but not really to negotiate with anyone. It is not the moment yet. But we will start soon, first with Ducati and we will see.”

Lorenzo and Rossi have been the best Yamaha Team ever.. For Rossi is a special story with many Wins, for Lorenzo is his first Motogp bike and the bike he learn and adapt to ride and he does that really well on is good days.. My personal view has one Yamaha fan i think its better to have Lorenzo and Rossi on the Team.. But for other side if Lorenzo could get one spot at Hrc i can t denie that it would be really interesting to see how Lorenzo would adapt to the Honda and also if he could beat Marquez on the same bike.. Anyway i bealive he will stay with Yamaha..!

ProfessorX: Lorenzo beat Rossi 2 out of his first 3 races, shortly after that it was the wall. Lorenzo has had the measure of Rossi since 2008. Rossi is better at a few tracks, but Lorenzo will own Rossi most of the time, especially if hes the #1. and yes, Jorge is #2 this year, clearly. It's evident in the electronics, the characteristics of the bike. And Bridgestone are not doing him any favors either. Thats why Lorenzo will drop after mid race more often than Rossi this year :) yours truly, perception management inc.
Your insight into MotoGP is even more ridiculous than it is in F1, and that is saying something! Why is it when you post on either people pull you up on it? Absolute tosh!
