Broc Parkes continues to adapt to life in MotoGP with Paul Bird Motorsport but the Australian was pleased with his progress during qualifying 20th out of 22 riders for tomorrow's French Grand Prix.

Speaking exclusively to Parkes said:

"Today was good and I'm quite happy to be where I am having lost so much time yesterday. The bike feels quite good and I thought that I could have gone quicker in qualifying because I had quite good pace in FP4 on the used tyre but when we put in the new tyre I just couldn't get as much out of it as I thought. It's a good thing for tomorrow that I've still got the speed on the used tyre and that's what I've been working on to improve my race pace and go with these guys tomorrow."

With Open bikes able to use the super-soft tyre, Parkes feels that while he could use it in qualifying that it will prove too soft to be durable for tomorrow's race.

"I don't know yet if I can race the super-soft. I said to the boys that maybe the super-soft will be too soft and we might have to go with the soft tyre. I'll probably make the decision later after I give it some thought. If I ran the super-soft I'd try and go with them at the start of the race but as it goes off it would be quite difficult to stay with them. When it goes off it goes off quite quick."

Team-mate Michael Laverty qualified 21st.
