Having had a difficult start to his season Gino Rea saw plenty of positives from his 19th place Moto2 finish at Le Mans, with the Londoner pleased to have made progress all weekend and able to fight throughout the race.

"It's definitely our best weekend so far," Rea told Crash.net. "I made a few mistakes in the first couple of laps but once I got into my rhythm I was behind the group of Cortese and Krummenacher and at turn two I went to change down gears and it sounded like the clutch slipped, it revved really high, and I ran off the corner and lost contact with that group and then I just tried to put my head down because I was on my own.

"I got into a battle with Terol and Baldassarri and managed to fight with them. So it's good progress, especially after the last few weekend that we've had and we've made progress with the bike and also I've made some changes to my riding for this weekend so hopefully we can continue this."

When asked what changes he had made over the course of the weekend, Rea commented that allowing him to be smoother on the bike was key to building confidence, although warmer track temperatures on Sunday led to some handling difficulties during the race.

"I was trying to match the bike setup to how I usually like to ride and from that I just tried to get smoother. We made a change from yesterday to today and it didn't make quite the improvement that we wanted for the race. I used the setup in qualifying and felt really comfortable but today in certain areas of the race the front kept washing out in certain corners.

"So it didn't quite work as much and I was losing time in the middle of corners. We're working well though and making progress and with the team being new this year it's going well and hopefully we can continue the progress."
