Italy MotoGP: Petrucci, Ioda set for Mugello return

Danilo Petrucci and IodaRacing will be back on the grid for the MotoGP Grand Prix of Italy at Mugello this weekend.
Danilo Petrucci is set to return to MotoGP action at his home Italian Grand Prix in Mugello after making a sufficient recovery from a wrist injury.

The Italian was ruled out of the Spanish and French races at Jerez and Le Mans when Petrucci broke his wrist in a fall during morning warm-up for the former.

Though IodaRacing was intending to race at Le Mans with Luca Scassa drafted in to replace Petrucci, he would go on to suffer a broken femur in an accident during pre-event testing, forcing the team to skip the round altogether.

“This injury let me pass a lot of time at home and watching the races from the couch was terrific,” he said. “Looking my bike in the garage at Le Mans did not put me in good mood, so I did everything to be present at Mugello, that is the home track for me and for the team and not being there would have been a sin.

“The wrist is fine, I also resumed training but do not know yet how will behave once I am in the saddle. Riding a MotoGP bike is a challenge and requires the use of every part of the body, although the left wrist is also crucial because Mugello is a fast and technical track where you have to always be 100 per cent. I really can't wait to get back to my team and my bike.”
